Dr. Calo wanted to be a veterinarian since he can remember. He was lucky to be raised in a family that supported that passion and allowed him to have just about every type of animal when he was growing up. Originally from Maryland, he relocated to North Carolina for college and loved the area so much that he never went back. While at UNC-Wilmington, he received a scholarship for his volunteer work with Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue. After graduating from veterinary school, he practiced at both private and corporate hospitals in the Wilmington and Greensboro areas before being introduced to integrative medicine practiced at Whole Pet. Dr. Calo is excited to learn and incorporate holistic modalities into his practice to further help his patients. He resides in Hampstead with his wife Heidi and his three children (with a 4th on the way!): Ayah, Violet, and Fitz. In his spare time, he enjoys SCUBA diving, going to the beach, and playing guitar.
