Regular exercise, such as daily walks, is a huge component of your dogs’ overall health. It helps with weight control, reduces risks of diseases, keeps them active and mobile, and is huge for their mental health. We associate training with basic obedience, but what if we can train “tricks” that keep them happy and healthy. High fives, is a great exercise for shoulder mobility; Play Bow is great for flexibility; Walking backward keeps the hamstrings strong. This is just a start to keep your pup healthy both physically and mentally.
Some tricks to this trade:
- Master the basics first and then add some more challenging tricks
- Start slow
- When they get tired it is time to stop
- Keep in mind that the treats used for reward count as calories!!
- Dogs need rest days too!
